This open lunch box is packed with happy food. A round apple with a leaf and stem, a triangle sandwich with wavy lettuce layers and a chocolate chip cookie all have sparkly eyes and little smiles. Behind them stand a juice box with a bendy straw and a small apple picture on the front, and a curved banana peeks in from the right. The lunch box has a sturdy carrying handle on top and a latch at the bottom. Big, clear outlines help little hands stay inside the lines. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start by coloring the big lunch box shell and lid in light blue, leaving the thin white highlight stripe on the handle untouched.
- 2Fill the apple with apple red and its leaf with grass green, then color the banana lemon yellow with a dark brown stem at the top.
- 3Color the sandwich bread in toast beige, its crust and lower edge in tangerine orange, and the filling in salmon pink with grass green lettuce layers.
- 4Fill the juice box with tangerine orange and add the apple print in apple red, then color the cookie caramel with small white dots left uncolored.
- 5Leave the straw white and the cookie dots white, then add a little extra light blue on the box interior and deep sky blue on the lower edges for depth.
- 6Optional: Add a slightly darker shade of each color along one side of the food to make the smiling faces pop.
