Sea Turtle Pal Below a Swimming Mermaid
Coloring guide
A cheerful young mermaid with long wavy hair and a starfish clip glides through the water just above a smiling sea turtle. She wears a seashell top, and her scaly tail and big fan-shaped fin sweep out behind her. The turtle has a patterned shell, spotted flippers and a wide grin. Three little striped fish swim close by, two near the top and one at the bottom. Round bubbles and curved current lines fill the water, and wavy seaweed grows from rocks in both bottom corners. Since the big scales and shell sections are easy to reach, this free printable suits kids who like a bit of detail. Sparkly purple and teal would look good on the tail, with soft greens and yellows on the turtle's shell so the two friends don't blend together. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the mermaid's hair: fill the long flowing locks and the top of the head with coral red, leaving the starfish clip in the hair white.
- 2Color the mermaid's face, arm and shoulders peach skin, then add the rose pink smile.
- 3Fill the tail fin with mint green and the scales with dark teal and mint green, alternating shades so the tail shimmers.
- 4Paint the turtle's shell with chocolate brown, then color the belly edges apricot orange and the lower shell soft yellow.
- 5Fill the turtle's head, body and flippers with pale lime and grass green, keeping the eye whites and little spots white. Add lime green seaweed and the purple shell.
- 6Finish with golden yellow fish, sky blue bubbles and lime green seaweed. Optional: add a darker shade of each color along one side for depth.
