Coloring guide
Front and center is a five-armed starfish with big sparkly eyes, rosy cheeks and a happy open smile, its arms stretched wide. Circles in different sizes dot its body, so little hands get lots of bumps to color one at a time. The sandy seabed underneath is drawn with soft wavy mounds, pebbles and tiny dots. A ridged scallop shell sits in the bottom left corner and a spiral shell in the bottom right. Thick, clear outlines make this an easy choice for preschoolers and early elementary kids, and it prints free as a PDF. Bright orange with yellow circles would suit the starfish, with soft tan for the sand and pink or purple for the shells. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the starfish body orange, leaving the two big eyes white with black pupils.
- 2Fill the round spots on the starfish with golden yellow, following the lines of dots on each arm.
- 3Color the smiling mouth rose pink and the shell ridges on the pink shell in blush pink.
- 4Color the stripes on the right shell in lavender purple and the inner swirl and stripe in cream, leaving tiny white highlights.
- 5Color the three pebbles on the sand in slate blue and the small pebble on the left in warm brown.
- 6Optional: add a few light strokes of a darker orange on the starfish to give it a little texture.
