Curved Track Steam Engine With a Giant Smoke Puff

A cheerful little steam locomotive rolls along a curved track, its round front shaped like a happy face with big circular eyes, a rounded nose and a wide smile. A large puffy cloud of smoke rises above the funnel, which flares out at the top. Behind the face you can see the boiler, a small dome with a pointed whistle, and a cab with an arched side window and a rectangular back window. There are wheels along the side, a connecting rod, and a cowcatcher grille at the front. The track has crossties that fade into the distance. Try coloring the smoke cloud in soft grays and blues, then let kids pick bright colors for the cab and wheels. It also works well for practicing staying inside lines on the larger shapes, and the printable page is easy to share with a whole group.
