Smiling Train Carrying Geometric Shapes
Coloring guide
A cheerful little steam train chugs along a railroad track on this shape-themed page. The engine has a square face with big sparkly eyes and an open, smiling mouth, plus a chimney topped with a triangle and puffy clouds of smoke drifting up and away. Three open cars follow behind, and each carries its own shape: a star, a hexagon and a circle. That makes it a handy choice for toddlers and preschoolers learning shape names. Big, round wheels with bold outlines are easy for small hands to fill in. You could paint the engine's square face bright yellow, then give each shape its own color, like a red star, a blue hexagon and a green circle. - 2Color the smoke clouds at the top with light sky blue, leaving a small gap between them as in the example.
- 3Fill the smiling face square with tomato red, then add the orange ramp stripes at the front of the engine.
- 4Color the star, cabin roof, chimney top, and wheel centers with golden yellow, and fill the car wheels with bright blue.
- 5Color the green box car with leaf green, the orange car with orange, the red car with tomato red, the purple hexagon with lavender purple, and the round shape with lime green.
- 6Color the track rail and ties with chocolate brown, and leave the eyes, smile, and background white. Optional: add a little shading on the lower edges of the cars for depth.
