Whale Splash and Sailboat in True and the Rainbow Kingdom
Coloring guide
A big whale with a wide grin bursts up out of the waves, shooting water from its blowhole as its tail curls up behind. Off to the right, a little girl in a floppy sun hat waves from a small sailboat flying a pennant flag. A rainbow stretches across the sky between puffy clouds, and two seagulls glide overhead. Down along the sandy shore you will spot a smiling crab, a starfish with a face, a spiral shell and two scallop shells, all sprinkled with tiny grains of sand. Long curved stripes on the whale's belly are fun to fill in. Soft sky blue suits the whale's back, with a lighter blue for the belly lines, and the bright red, yellow and green can go to the rainbow. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the whale's head, body and tail with bright blue, leaving the big eye white and a small shine on the eye.
- 2Fill the whale's belly and side with light blue, then add a little sky blue splash near the tail and the water spouts above the whale's head.
- 3Color the rainbow from the outside in: red, orange, yellow, gray, then purple, and fill both clouds and the seagull on the right with very pale blue while leaving the background white.
- 4Color the sailboat: yellow sail, red hull and rim, and the flag in red. Give the girl a skin tone face and hands, and color her sun hat yellow.
- 5Add the whale's open mouth in deep red with a salmon pink tongue, then color the crab coral orange, the starfish rose pink, and the shells in lavender, pale yellow and apricot.
- 6Optional: Add a few darker blue strokes on the whale's body and light blue waves on the sea to add depth.
