Peeking out from under a giant daisy is a cheerful little snail in a sweet garden scene. It has big round eyes, a happy smile and two long antennae with round tips, and its shell is a simple spiral that small hands can handle. Above it, the large flower has a round center and lots of wide petals, and its curved stem has a leaf on each side. Along the bottom there are a few tufts of grass and a tiny five-petal flower on the right. Bold, clean outlines and roomy shapes make it a good match for preschoolers and early elementary kids. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big pink flower: color all the outer petals rose pink, leaving the thin black outlines clean.
- 2Fill the flower center and the snail's body and antenna balls with golden yellow.
- 3Color the snail's shell chocolate brown, leaving the spiral lines in white or as dark outlines.
- 4Color the tall stem and the small grass tufts leaf green, then add the two leaves in forest green.
- 5Keep the grass at the bottom and the small daisy near the right side white, and leave the snail's eye whites and the shine spot bright white.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading along the lower edge of the petals and the shell to give the drawing some depth.
