With arms stretched wide and a short ponytail trailing, a smiling child flies through the sky right next to a big happy eagle. The child's short-sleeved tunic has a round medallion at the neck and a belted waist, with leggings and tall boots, and the pose looks just like Superman-style flight. Below, the eagle beams with its beak open, wings spread and feathery talons tucked up. Fluffy outlined clouds float around them, and snowcapped mountain peaks and a few more clouds fill the bottom of the page. Warm golden browns look great on the eagle's feathers, and bright teal or green on the child's outfit helps both flyers stand out against a soft blue sky. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the sky: color the big clouds and the small clouds at the sides with light sky blue, leaving the background white.
- 2Fill the mountains with steel blue, keeping their snowy peaks white, then color the bushes at the bottom with leaf green.
- 3Paint the eagle's body and tail with bright blue, its head with cream white, and its beak with amber yellow.
- 4Color the boy's face, arms and hands light peach, his hair and ponytail chocolate brown, his shirt bright red, and his pants bright blue, with boots in chocolate brown.
- 5Fill the wings of the boy and the eagle with lemon yellow, add bright blue to the wing tips, and keep the eagle's chest highlights white.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shade of the same color along the edges of the wings and shirt for depth, and leave the eye shine and background white.
