Spotted Fallow Deer Buck Grazing in Grass

Coloring guide
A fallow deer buck stands in profile facing left with its head lowered, as if sniffing or grazing at the ground. Two large antlers rise from its head, each ending in a wide, flat, jagged-edged blade with a few pointed prongs below. The coat is marked with scattered spots of different sizes across the back and sides, and the underside and legs are left plain. Its ear points up, one dark eye is filled in, and a short tail hangs at the rear. Tufts of grass are drawn around the hooves and in the background on both sides. Try browns and tans for the body, then add white or cream for the spots to show off the pattern. It also works well for a quick talk about how male deer grow and shed antlers.
