Stars Around a Basketball Hoop and Ball

Coloring guide
At the bottom of the page sits a big round basketball, with a hoop and backboard rising right above it. The net hangs in a crisscross diamond pattern and touches the top of the ball, so it looks like a swoosh is about to happen. Inside the rectangular backboard there's a smaller square, and the rim is drawn as an oval. Four little five-point stars float around the hoop, two on each side. Thick, clean outlines and roomy spaces suit younger kids, while the net and ball seams give older ones more to work on. Orange with black seams is the classic pick for the ball, and yellow stars with a blue or red backboard would look great. Download it as a free PDF for a classroom project or weekend craft. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the whole basketball with basketball orange, covering every panel and the curved lines between them.
- 2Color the hoop rim basketball orange and the small square on the backboard bright red.
- 3Color the top left star and the bottom right star golden yellow.
- 4Color the left star and the right star bright blue.
- 5Leave the backboard frame, the hoop opening and the net white so they stand out against the colored ball.
- 6Optional: Add light back-and-forth strokes of orange over the ball to give it a textured, sketched look.
