Strawberry Patch Chameleon Looking Up
Coloring guide
Sitting on a patch of grass, a little chameleon turns its big round eye upward to gaze at three plump strawberries hanging from a curving stem. It has a small smile, curved stripes along its body and a tail coiled into a spiral. The strawberries are dotted with tiny seeds and topped with leafy caps. Around them are large serrated leaves and a five-petal blossom at the top, with a few small pebbles and grass tufts at the bottom. Bold outlines and roomy shapes suit preschoolers and early elementary kids, and the seeds, stripes and leaf edges give older children some detail to work on. Red and pink fit the strawberries, while the chameleon looks good in a mix of greens and yellows. It's a free printable for a quiet afternoon or a nature lesson. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the strawberries: fill the big strawberries and the strawberry on the right with strawberry red, leaving the tiny seed dots white.
- 2Color the chameleon's head and body with light green, leaving the big eye's white part bright.
- 3Fill the leaves and stems with forest green, including the grass tufts at the bottom.
- 4Use yellow green for the lower bands and the curled tail, and golden yellow for the little spikes along the back.
- 5Color the pebbles light gray and leave the flower petals, the background, and the gaps between the legs white.
- 6Optional: add a little darker shading on one side of the leaves and the chameleon's body to make it look more rounded.
