Polka Dot Tie in a Gift Box for Father's Day

A big necktie sticks up out of an open cardboard gift box, with the knot at the top and the wide end slanting down across the front of the box. The knot has diagonal stripes, the body of the tie has bands of stripes, and little polka dots fill the spaces between the lines. Both box flaps are folded open at the sides. Down in the lower right, a smaller wrapped present with a ribbon and a large bow leans against the box, and five outlined stars are scattered around. Thick outlines and roomy spaces keep it easy, and the dots are nice practice for careful little coloring strokes. Maybe a deep blue tie with red dots and yellow stripes, plus a bright green bow on the small gift. It's free to print, so you might want a few extra copies on hand. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the box sides, flaps, and the gift box panels bright green, leaving the shiny edges of the gift box white if you like.
- 2Fill the tie's diagonal stripes, alternating candy red and bright green, working from the top knot down to the tip.
- 3Color the dark inside of the open box and the shadowed gap at its bottom forest green to make it look deep.
- 4Fill the bow, its loops and tails, and the gift box's lid stripe candy red, keeping the bow center a bit brighter for contrast.
- 5Color the five stars and all the polka dots on the tie golden yellow.
- 6Optional: add a few darker strokes of forest green along one side of the tie and the box for a little depth.
