Sweet Spider Hanging Under a Sunny Leaf

Coloring guide
It's hard not to grin back at this little spider, which dangles on a single thread from the underside of a big leaf. It has a round head, large shiny eyes with bright highlights, rosy cheeks and eight thick, curvy legs that are easy for small hands to color. The leaf above has a bold center vein with several curved side veins, and a simple sun with short rays sits in the top right corner. Wide outlines and open spaces suit preschoolers and early elementary kids. Soft green works for the leaf, sunny yellow for the sun, and warm purple or orange for the spider's body. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the leaf at the top with leaf green, leaving the thin dark veins uncolored.
- 2Fill the whole spider body and all eight legs with soft purple, keeping the outlines clean.
- 3Color the center of the sun with golden yellow, and leave the rays white.
- 4Leave the eye whites, the little shine in the eyes, and the background white, then fill the black pupils with a dark color.
- 5Optional: Add a little darker purple along one side of the body and legs to make the spider look rounder.
