The scalloped bell of this jellyfish has a spiral swirl on top, and the petal-shaped sections underneath leave lots of room for patterns. It floats in the middle of the page with big round eyes, rosy little cheeks and a tiny curved smile. Its long wavy tentacles trail down in smooth curves, so kids can practice careful lines or give each one its own color. Round bubbles of different sizes drift nearby. Along the bottom, tall wavy seaweed grows on both sides next to a few smooth pebbles on the sea floor. With large shapes and clean outlines, it suits preschoolers and early elementary kids. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the wavy bell at the bottom of the jellyfish with orchid pink, leaving the two eyes and the smile white.
- 2Color most of the long tentacles with sky blue, and use pale aqua for the middle strands while leaving the thin white strands uncolored.
- 3Color the swirl on top and the side edges of the cap with lavender, then fill the middle and side petals of the cap with sky blue and pale aqua.
- 4Add the seaweed in leaf green and mint green, and color the rocks at the bottom in light gray.
- 5Fill the bubbles with pale blue and sky blue, keeping the eye whites bright white.
- 6Optional: Add a little periwinkle along one side of a blue tentacle to make it look shaded.
