An Inclusive Classroom Scene for Diversity & Inclusion Lessons
Coloring guide
Leaning over the desks, a smiling teacher with shoulder-length hair and a lanyard badge checks in on her students in this bright classroom. A curly-haired girl in a headband and hoodie moves her fingers across an open braille book, and a boy in a wheelchair looks up at the teacher with a smile as he writes in his notebook. Behind them, a boy with round glasses writes at his desk, and a girl with long straight hair and a flower sweater holds her pencil. The background is full of bookshelves with a globe, a world map, leafy houseplants, a pencil cup and a big window showing trees and clouds. Soft greens for the plants and sky blue for the window view would look nice. Print this free page for classroom discussions about learning together. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big areas: color the wooden desks and chairs in golden yellow, and the teacher's cardigan and the walls in cream.
- 2Fill the hoodies: the girl's hoodie in coral pink, and the boy's hoodie and sleeves in sky blue. Color the teacher's skirt and the boy's jeans in navy blue or bright blue.
- 3Color the skin tones in peach, and use tan orange for the girl's hands and forehead. Use burnt orange for the boy's hair on the left and golden yellow for the boy on the right.
- 4Add the greenery and window: color the plant leaves and the trees with lime green and forest green, the window sky in pale sky blue, and the world map with lime green and pale sky blue.
- 5Optional: Add a little shading to the hoodies and the cardigan. Leave the braille pages, the window clouds, and the highlights in the sky white.
