Storybook Cottage Garden for Adult Coloring Fans
Coloring guide
In the middle of this detailed scene stands a round-topped storybook cottage with a thick, shaggy thatched roof and smoke curling out of a tall stone chimney. It has an arched wooden door with a round window, a little hanging lantern, and heart cutouts on the shutters. Flower boxes full of blooms sit under each window, including the round attic window in the roof. A winding stepping-stone path runs through a garden of daisies, tulips and leafy bushes. A small bird perches on a fence post, a birdhouse hangs from a tree branch, and a butterfly flutters near the fence on the right, with hills, pine trees and puffy clouds behind. So many small shapes make it a fit for older kids, teens or grown-ups with fine-tipped pencils. Golden yellow on the thatch, soft grays on the stone, and bright pinks, purples and oranges on the flowers would look great. It's a free printable, so print a few spare copies. - 2Color the leafy tree and the bushes around the cottage in bright green, then add lime green to the lawn and the flower garden grass.
- 3Fill the tree trunk, wooden door, window shutters and fence posts with chocolate brown or caramel brown.
- 4Paint the stone walls and stepping stones in beige and light gray, and color the chimney top in coral orange.
- 5Add pale blue to the clouds, sky blue to the distant hills, leaf green to the pine trees, and tomato red to the tulips.
- 6Optional: add a little extra depth by shading the edges of the roof with a slightly darker olive green or caramel brown.
