Three Hens Snuggled in a Woven Basket Nest

Three cartoon hens sit close together in a shallow woven basket with straw poking out around the edges. Each hen has a round dot eye, a small beak, a wavy comb on top of her head, and a feathered neck with little dash marks. Two hens face left and one faces right, and the two in front each have a big rounded wing with short feather lines on it. The basket has wide slats with a center post and a ring of thin curved lines along the bottom. The bold outlines and open shapes make it easy for younger kids to color. Try giving each hen a different feather color, then use yellows and tans for the straw and browns for the basket. This free printable also works well for a farm unit, since kids can count the hens and talk about where chickens like to nest.
