Tulips and a Big Heart for Valentine's Day

Coloring guide
Three tulips stand in front of a large, simple heart that fills the top of the page, and their blooms overlap the heart's lower edge. The tallest one is in the middle on a straight stem. A smaller tulip on each side leans gently outward on slightly curved stems. Big pointed leaves sweep out from the bottom, one on each side and two in the middle. The outlines are bold and the shapes are wide open, which suits preschoolers and little hands still learning to stay inside the lines. A red or pink heart looks lovely with yellow, orange and purple tulips, and fresh green leaves finish it off. Print this free page for a quiet, creative moment. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big heart at the top and fill it with warm red, using short back-and-forth strokes.
- 2Color the center tulip and its small bud on top with rose pink, leaving the thin center stem white.
- 3Fill the two side tulips and their small buds with golden yellow.
- 4Color the two long leaves at the bottom, the two upright leaves in the middle, and the two thin stems under the side tulips with grass green.
- 5Keep the central stem and the background white so the colors stand out.
- 6Optional: add a little darker red on one side of the heart and a darker green on the lower edges of the leaves to give them depth.
