Bent forward with his eyes squeezed shut and teeth clenched in a big grimace, Tom shakes one hand like he just smashed it. Sweat drops fly off his head and little motion lines around both hands show how hard he's wiggling them. Torn glove cuffs sit at his wrists and the tip of his tail curls up behind him. A small plank or stick shows up in the upper right with its own motion marks. Over in the lower left, Jerry stands with his arms behind his back, a sweat drop above his head and an unimpressed, skeptical look. The ground has simple grass tufts and a long fence rail runs behind. Kids get big open areas on Tom's body to color, plus fun extras like the sweat drops and motion lines. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big areas: color Tom's body, arms, legs and tail with steel blue gray, leaving the hands, feet and teeth white.
- 2Fill Tom's face and the light belly patch with light gray, and add the inside of his ears in light pink and dusty rose.
- 3Color Jerry's head, body and legs with golden brown, and his ears with light pink so he stands out from Tom.
- 4Paint the fence and the wooden stick with tan brown, adding darker shadow on the tail with dark gray.
- 5Optional: add a little dark gray along the edges of Tom's body to give him a bit of shading, and keep the eye whites, teeth and paws bright white.
