Tom stands with his arms crossed and a smug, closed-mouth smile, rolling his eyes upward at the tiny mouse on top of his head. That's Jerry, crouched between Tom's ears and leaning forward with a cheeky open-mouthed grin, tail curled up behind him. Long whiskers stretch out on both sides of Tom's face, and you'll spot fluffy fur tufts on his cheek and wrists. The background is blank so the two characters get all the attention. Tom's head, face and folded arms are big open areas that younger children can fill in easily. A soft blue-gray for Tom and a warm light brown for Jerry keeps the little mouse from blending in. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill Tom's head, shoulders, chest, lower body and crossed arm with medium gray, leaving the muzzle, chin and paws white.
- 2Color Tom's left ear and the cheek areas with medium gray, then add the pale gray patch on his forehead and face.
- 3Paint Jerry in copper brown, covering his head, back, neck, legs, paw and tail.
- 4Color Jerry's ear and Tom's right ear inside with rose pink, and add peach to Jerry's face, muzzle and belly.
- 5Fill Tom's right eye with green and keep the eye whites and background white.
- 6Optional: add light pencil-style strokes in medium gray on Tom's head to give it a soft texture.
