Swing Time for Tom and Jerry
Coloring guide
Tom reaches out one arm to give Jerry a push on a plain wooden swing. Jerry sits in the little box-shaped seat, smiling and holding the ropes with both hands, while Tom grins down at him with his other paw on his hip. Small nail or bolt details run along the front of the seat, which gives you a little extra to fill in. Tom's big feet, whiskers and tufted head fur leave lots of open space to color. There's no background, so it stays clean and easy for younger children. Soft blue-gray for Tom, warm brown for Jerry and a light wood tan for the seat would look good together. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the crate: fill the wooden box sides and base with warm tan, then add dark brown on the right panel and the corner shadows.
- 2Color Tom's head, arm, body and legs in slate gray, leaving his hands, paws and feet white.
- 3Fill Tom's belly with light gray, and color Jerry's head, body, arms and legs in medium brown with pale tan on his snout.
- 4Add coral pink to the inside of Tom's ear and Jerry's ear, and color Tom's open mouth maroon while keeping his teeth white.
- 5Give Tom's eye a golden yellow center, keeping the eye white around it, and leave the muzzle and background white.
- 6Optional: Add a few darker slate gray strokes along Tom's body and crate edges for a little shading.
