Coloring guide
Two smiling clownfish pop out of a big, swirly sea anemone. The larger one looks out from the upper tentacles and a smaller one peeks from the lower middle. Both have wide eyes, happy open mouths and bold curved stripes, plus fins with fine lines that are fun to fill in. Long, rounded tentacles fan out in every direction, and a ribbed trunk with vertical lines holds the anemone up at the bottom. Two bumpy coral branches with little bubble dots and a few smooth rocks rest on the sea floor. Thick outlines suit young colorers, and the tentacles offer lots of room to practice. Bright orange for the fish works well, leaving the stripes white or coloring them softly, with pink or purple for the anemone so the fish stand out. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the anemone stalk at the bottom in coral red, leaving the thin white lines that separate its ridges.
- 2Color the big anemone tentacles in medium purple, and use pale pink for the tentacles on the top right and far right.
- 3Fill the clownfish bodies, fins and tails with tangerine orange, keeping the white stripes on both fish white.
- 4Color the gray stripe on the big fish's head with light gray, and the rocks at the bottom with pale blue gray.
- 5Add the green corals on both sides in grass green, leaving the small round holes white.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading on the lower tentacles and the stalk for depth, and leave the eye whites and background white.
