In a grassy field, a boy and a girl stand with their backs mostly to us, each raising a hand to wave at a big passenger jet flying across the sky. The plane is tilted as if it's climbing, with two engines under its wings and a row of little cabin windows. The boy has a short-sleeved shirt and shorts with pockets, and the girl wears a ponytail, a tee and a skirt. Around them are grass tufts, small flowers, a bush line in the distance, two puffy clouds, a diamond kite lying on the ground and a checkered picnic blanket in the corner. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big shapes: color the boy's shirt bright red and the girl's top hot pink, leaving the skin areas light peach.
- 2Fill the sky clouds with light sky blue, and color the bushes and grass in grass green, adding lime green for the small grass shadows on the ground.
- 3Color the boy's shorts and pockets bright blue, and the girl's skirt violet purple, then add brown to the boy's hair and golden yellow to the girl's ponytail.
- 4Paint the airplane's tail, engines and wing tips with light gray and steel blue gray, keeping the main body and windows white.
- 5Color the kite panels with bright blue and golden yellow, and tint the picnic blanket with coral red and rose pink squares, leaving the rest of the checks white.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading on the shirts and shorts for depth, and keep the socks, airplane windows and blanket squares white for a clean look.
