Coloring guide
Two smiling mermaids float side by side, holding hands. The one on the left has long, wavy hair with a starfish clip, while the one on the right wears curly hair in a high bun with a small shell tucked in. Both have shell-style tops and big scaled tails with finned ends. Round bubbles drift around them. At the bottom, tall wavy seaweed grows from small rocks on each side, and a starfish rests on the sea floor between the two tails. Kids will find plenty to work on in the large scales and curly hair, and the open spaces are good for crayons or markers. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the skin areas: color the faces, arms, shoulders, bellies and the held hands in peach skin, leaving the eye whites and small highlights white.
- 2Color the hair next: use soft pink for the long hair on the left mermaid, hot pink for the starfish and the darker strands, and tangerine orange for the bun and top of the right mermaid's hair.
- 3Fill the tails with turquoise teal on the left mermaid and lavender purple and violet purple on the right mermaid, then add aqua and pale lilac to the scales and fins.
- 4Color the shells on both bras in bubblegum pink and hot pink, and the skirt frills in aqua and pale lilac to match the tails.
- 5Add the seaweed in sea green, the rocks in cool gray, and the bubbles in sky blue, keeping the background water white.
- 6Optional: Add a little extra shading on the tails and the hair with a slightly darker shade of the same color for more depth.
