Underwater, a smiling boy in a spotted wetsuit and swim fins glides beside a big, happy orca. He has short tousled hair and one arm stretched toward the whale's side. The orca has a round eye, a wide open grin, and a large oval patch above the eye that's fun to fill in. Four little striped fish swim past them, and bubbles of all sizes float up the page. Wavy seaweed and rocky mounds sit in the bottom corners. Black and white suit the orca, with bright blue for the circles on the wetsuit, and each striped fish can get its own orange or yellow. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the orca's big body, head, and tail with sky blue, then fill the dorsal fin and side flipper with ocean blue.
- 2Paint the diver's wetsuit in sky blue, adding cobalt blue on the arms, legs, and flippers for shading and contrast.
- 3Color the diver's hair chocolate brown and the face and hands peach skin, leaving the orca's eye white bright white.
- 4Fill the orca's open mouth with salmon pink and the tongue with dusty rose, and color the pale patch on the head and belly in pale blue.
- 5Add the fish in tangerine orange with golden yellow stripes, the bubbles in pale aqua, the seaweed in leaf green and mint green, the corals in coral pink, and the rocks in lavender purple.
- 6Optional: add a few darker strokes of cobalt blue along the orca's underside to give it a little depth.
