Walking Buck With Large Antlers in Tall Grass

A buck with big, branching antlers walks to the right across an open field. His head is turned slightly forward, with one eye, a small ear and a dark nose clearly outlined. The antlers have many points, and a few are wide and flat at the tips. His tail is raised at the back, and his slim legs step through clumps of tall pointed grass at the bottom of the page. A thin horizon line runs behind him, with two low bushes with wavy edges on the left and right. The big body and neck have lots of open space, so they work well for smooth shading. Try browns and tans for the coat, then add a lighter belly and darker antlers. It's also a nice prompt for talking about how male deer grow and shed antlers. Print it free and color it at home or in class.
