Walking With Ruff: Rusty Rivets and His Robot Dinosaur

A smiling boy with goggles pushed up on his messy hair strolls next to a big robot dinosaur. It looks like Rusty with his robot pal Ruff. Rusty has freckles, a short-sleeved shirt with a round emblem, a tool belt, gloves and chunky sneakers, and he waves one hand as he goes. The T. rex style robot towers beside him with its mouth wide open and tongue showing. It has big round eyes on antenna stalks, bolted metal panels, claw-like hands and a curved tail with a pointed tip. Just a simple curved ground line is drawn, so there's lots of open space around them. Kids who like robots and dinosaurs should enjoy this free printable. Bright green on the dinosaur, silver or gray on the bolts and joints and an orange or blue shirt for the boy make a nice mix. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big blue areas: fill the dinosaur head, jaw, and the robot's body, arms, and legs with bright blue, leaving the teeth and eye whites white.
- 2Color the darker blue parts with deep blue: the robot's waist, wrist cuffs, knee area, the boy's jeans, and his boots.
- 3Add the yellow accents with sunny yellow and butter yellow: the pointing finger, claws, hip plates, belt, feet, horn, and the neck collar.
- 4Fill the joints, bolts, and wheel-like thruster with light gray, and use steel gray and slate gray for the neck plate and foot straps.
- 5Finish the small details: color the tongue bright red, the inside of the mouth dark red, the boy's face peach, his hair chestnut brown, and his goggles rust brown. Keep his shirt, his hand, and the highlights white.
- 6Optional: Add a little shading by pressing harder on one side of each blue shape to make the robot look more three-dimensional.
