Whole Watermelon With a Cut Slice Beside It

A large oval watermelon fills most of the page, covered in wavy, jagged stripes that run diagonally across the rind. In the lower left corner, a single triangular wedge has been cut out and sits in front of the melon. The slice shows a thick rind edge along the bottom and a handful of small teardrop-shaped seeds scattered across the flesh. The lines are bold and simple, so the big shapes are easy for small hands to fill in. Try coloring the stripes in two alternating greens, one light and one dark, then use red or pink for the slice and leave the seeds black. This free printable also works well for a quick talk about where seeds grow inside fruit, or about how a whole object and a piece of it compare in size.
