Window Sill Kitten Watching the Rain

Turned away from us on a window ledge, a fluffy kitten glances out in profile at the falling rain. Raindrops and slanted streaks cover all four panes. Beyond the glass you can make out rounded bushes and the outline of a small house roof. Curtains are tied back on both sides, and a potted plant with broad leaves sits on the sill next to the kitten. Soft fur, a big eye, whiskers and a curled tail give you plenty to work on. The big open spaces are easy for younger kids to fill in, so it's a nice free printable for a rainy afternoon. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big background: color the window panes sky blue for the rain, and the bushes outside in grass green and leaf green.
- 2Fill the curtains on both sides with butter yellow, leaving the small tiebacks to color last.
- 3Color the kitten in tabby orange, then use apricot for the inside of its ears and peach beige for the muzzle, paws, and tail tip. Leave the highlights white.
- 4Paint the window sill and ledge in wood brown, then color the flower pot terracotta orange and the small house pale yellow.
- 5Color the plant leaves and stems in grass green, leaving the window frame and sill highlights white. Optional: add a slightly darker tone on the sill edges for a bit of depth.
