A Little Mermaid Pats Her Seahorse Friend
Coloring guide
This sweet underwater scene shows a smiling young mermaid with long wavy hair gently patting a cute seahorse on the head. She has a starfish clip in her hair and a seashell top, and her rounded-scale tail ends in a wide, ribbed fin. The seahorse comes with big round eyes, a curled tail, a banded belly and a frilly fin down its back. Bubbles of different sizes float around the pair, and two bushy bits of coral with little rocks fill the bottom corners. Bold lines and fairly large shapes make it a good match for crayons or chunky markers. Soft purple could go on the shell top and tail scales, with bright orange or yellow for the seahorse so each friend stands apart. It's a free printable that fits quiet time at home or at school. This fits right in with our Mermaid coloring pages — see also Unicorns and Dragons.

- amber orange
- sky blue

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the long flowing hair in coral red, leaving the starfish clip for later, and add a slightly darker red under the hair for depth.
- 2Fill the mermaid's face, chest, and arm with peach, leaving the small highlights in the eyes white.
- 3Color the tail scales alternating aqua and deep teal, then fill the tail fins with mint green.
- 4Paint the seahorse's body and head lemon yellow, with its back fins, belly stripes, and tail fin in amber orange.
- 5Fill the starfish with lemon yellow, the two shells with lavender purple, the bubbles with sky blue, the corals with leaf green, and the rocks with light gray.
- 6Optional: Leave the background white and add a little darker shading along the edges of the tail scales to make them pop.
