Baby Dragon and Firecrackers, Chinese New Year Page

Coloring guide
A smiling baby dragon sits on its haunches, mouth open, with big sparkly eyes looking up at a string of firecrackers hanging from a hook on the right. The little dragon has two curved horns, small spikes on its head, frilly ears, a striped belly, tiny bat-style wings and a curled tail. The firecrackers are tied in a tall chain that ends in a tassel at the bottom. Outlined stars and four-pointed sparkles fill the open background. Large shapes and bold, clean lines make this free printable easy for young children, while the scales, wing panels and firecracker tubes give older kids details to work on. Bright red and gold fit the firecrackers, and a soft green or purple dragon will stand out from the starry backdrop. Love this Chinese New Year coloring page? A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start by filling the dragon's large body, tail, and the firecrackers with coral red, leaving the small white shine spots on the firecrackers untouched.
- 2Color both wings and their membranes with leaf green, working from the edges inward.
- 3Fill the back spikes, the ear frills, and the tassel with tangerine orange.
- 4Color the belly stripes, the horns, the stars, and the sparkles with sunny yellow, and use amber gold for the lower belly.
- 5Add the pale lemon claws on the feet and the soft pink tongue, keeping the eye shines and white highlights white.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading on the lower side of the body and wings to make the dragon look rounder.
