Right in front of a stone castle gate sits a smiling baby dragon, wings spread wide and big eyes looking straight at you. It has two curved horns, little spikes along its head and back, a long striped belly, spotted haunches and a curly tail on the right. The castle behind it has two tall towers with pointed roofs and waving flags, arched windows, a battlement wall and a big arched wooden gate. Two round trees, small grass tufts and a few stepping stones fill the grassy ground. Those wide wings and brick walls leave kids lots of room to work. Soft greens look good on the dragon and its belly stripes, and orange or purple on the wing panels will pop against the gray stone. Dragon fans of many ages should enjoy this free printable. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the dragon's body, head, legs and tail in grass green, leaving the teeth and the little claws white.
- 2Color the big wing membranes and their inner parts in orange, then fill the wing arms in grass green.
- 3Use pale yellow for the belly stripes and the horns, and golden yellow for the horn tips, back spikes and tail spikes.
- 4Fill the castle walls and towers in light gray, the arch stones and small wall blocks in stone gray, and the tower roofs and flag in bright red, with coral red on the battlement tops.
- 5Color the wooden gate door in warm brown, the tree trunks too, then fill the tree crowns in grass green and the bushes in dark green.
- 6Optional: Color the windows in charcoal black and the small rocks in stone gray, and add a little shading with a darker shade of each color.
