On the right behind it stands a simple tree with a cloud-shaped crown, and tall grass fills both bottom corners. Bold outlines and large shapes suit preschoolers and early elementary kids still building pencil control, and the free printable leaves lots of room for crayons or markers. Sky blue or warm gray for the elephant, yellow and orange for the birds and leafy greens for the tree and grass would work. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start by coloring the elephant's head, body, legs, and shoulder light gray, leaving the eye whites and small shine spots white.
- 2Fill both ears with coral pink, including the inner parts that show near the head.
- 3Color the three birds: the top bird bright red, the middle bird golden yellow, and the left bird sky blue, keeping their beaks and eyes details simple.
- 4Paint the tree trunk chocolate brown and the leafy top forest green, then add grass green to the blades of grass and pale sage to the small bush near the trunk.
- 5Give the elephant's toenails and the tail tip a finishing touch: color the toenails cream and the tail tip chocolate brown, leaving the grass background white.
- 6Optional: add a few darker gray strokes on the elephant's body and legs for a bit of depth.
