Sleepy Elephant Under the Moon and Stars

Coloring guide
A little elephant is curled up on the grass, fast asleep, with long lashes on its closed eyes and a soft smile. Its trunk rests low along the ground, and the big round ears frame a head with a small tuft of hair on top. The tail ends in a little tassel, and tiny grass tufts are scattered around. Up above, a large crescent moon and five outlined stars fill the night sky. Bold lines and big open areas suit preschoolers and early elementary kids, and it makes a calm bedtime or quiet-time activity. For the sky, try yellow stars and a pale yellow moon, then soft lavender or gray on the elephant for a cozy, dreamy feel. Print this free page whenever you need it. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the elephant head, body, trunk and front leg in light gray, leaving the small white highlight near the bottom of the body untouched.
- 2Fill both big ears with soft pink, working smoothly so the ears look soft and round.
- 3Color the crescent moon and all the stars in golden yellow, keeping the background white.
- 4Fill the little toe pads on the feet with cream so they stand out from the gray legs.
- 5Use slate gray for the tail base and the dark tail tip at the back of the elephant.
- 6Optional: add a few light gray strokes on the shaded side of the head and body for a softer, more rounded look.
