Zebra With a Little Bird on Its Back

Coloring guide
A young zebra stands in a three-quarter pose and looks back over its shoulder, with a big round eye and a friendly smile. A small round bird perches on its back, facing the same way. The zebra has bold curved stripes across the body and legs, a spiky striped mane, tall pointed ears and a tufted tail that swishes out behind. Along the bottom, tufts of grass and a couple of rounded rocks fill the ground around the hooves. Lots of stripes mean lots of shapes to fill in, while the big open areas on the bird and rocks are easy for younger children. Soft blues or sunny yellows make the bird stand out against the black and white zebra, and fresh greens finish off the grass. Print it free for a quiet, creative moment. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the little bird's body and wing in sky blue, leaving its tail and wing edges white.
- 2Fill the inside of both ears with coral pink, then color the nose and both rocks in light warm gray.
- 3Color the grass tufts around the zebra in leaf green, working from the bottom up.
- 4Fill the zebra's mane, body stripes, legs, hooves and tail tuft in charcoal gray, leaving the white gaps between the stripes untouched.
- 5Optional: add a few extra light strokes of charcoal gray along the belly and legs to give the zebra a bit of shadow.
