Basket Full of Smiling Vegetable Friends
Coloring guide
Six cheerful vegetable characters are squeezed into one woven basket, and each has big sparkly eyes and a happy open smile. Along the back, a carrot with leafy tops leans next to a fluffy broccoli floret, while a corn cob with long husk leaves peeks out on the right. Up front you'll find a round tomato with a star-shaped stem, a little radish with veiny leaves and a bell pepper with a curly stem. The basket has a twisted rope rim and a brick-like weave that leaves lots of room for color. Thick outlines help little hands stay inside the lines. Orange for the carrot, red for the tomato and bright yellow for the corn work well, and you can mix a few greens for the broccoli and leaves. It's a free printable for a calm, creative break. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big vegetables: fill the carrot with carrot orange, the tomato with tomato red, the radish with raspberry pink, and the corn cob and yellow pepper with bright yellow.
- 2Color the broccoli florets forest green and the broccoli stalk lime green, leaving the small shine spots on the stalk white.
- 3Fill the carrot top, radish leaves, and corn husks with leaf green and fresh green, and color the tall leaves behind the vegetables in the same greens.
- 4Color the basket weave light tan, then the rim and sides warm brown, with golden tan on the left edge and dark brown shadows under the vegetables.
- 5Finish the details: color the tomato stem and pepper stem green, and leave the eyes and smiles white. Optional: add a little darker shading on one side of each vegetable for depth.
