Fall Apple Basket at the Base of a Tree

A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.

1. 1Color the apples with apple red, leaving the small white shine spots on each apple unpainted.
2. 2Fill the leaves on the apples and the tree canopy with forest green and leaf green, keeping the lighter leaves in light green.
3. 3Color the basket with golden tan, including the handle, rim, and all the woven bands.
4. 4Add light brown to the wooden slats across the basket and chocolate brown to the tree knot hole and dark brown to the trunk and branch.
5. 5Leave the background, the space inside the handle, and the trunk highlight white.
6. 6Optional: Add a little darker shading along the bottom of each apple and the lower edge of the basket for depth.
