Hawaiian Beach Hut with Hammock, Palm Trees and Surfboard

Right in the middle of the page, a thatched-roof beach hut is framed by two leaning palm trees with coconuts hanging near their tops. A rope hammock stretches between the trunks across the front. The hut comes with a shuttered window and flower box, a plank door, a hanging lantern, and a small porch with steps and a wooden chair. A surfboard decorated with a hibiscus leans against the wall. Beyond it you'll find ocean waves, a sailboat, distant hills, a sun, a few clouds and two birds. Hibiscus blooms, big tropical leaves, a starfish and shells fill the sandy corners. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big sky and sea areas: color the wavy sea on both sides with turquoise and ocean blue, and the far mountain with forest green, leaving the open sky white.
- 2Fill the sand at the bottom and the hammock with pale yellow for the sand and very light blue for the hammock stripes, adding royal blue along the hammock edge.
- 3Color the thatched roof and the hut walls with sandy tan, then fill the door and palm trunks with wood brown.
- 4Paint the palm fronds and coconuts with leaf green, then add the bright yellow sun.
- 5Add the hibiscus flowers in hibiscus red and the surfboard in turquoise, then color the window glass in pale sky blue.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading under the hammock and along the palm trunks to give the scene more depth.
