Little Volcano Island With Palm Trees, Hawaiian Style

A cheerful volcano with sparkly eyes and a big open-mouth smile sits in the middle of a small island. It puffs out a fluffy cloud of smoke, and little bubbles float up from the crater. Drippy lava runs down the rim and along one side of the mountain, and a single teardrop slides near its cheek. Around the base lean three palm trees with coconuts, plus rounded bushes, leafy plants and a few smooth rocks along the shore. Wavy water surrounds the island, and a little sailboat with a flag floats in the bottom corner. Two puffy clouds drift in the sky. Bright orange and red suit the lava, soft browns and grays the mountain, and a few different greens the palms and bushes. Print it at home for a class project or weekend craft. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the volcano body and the palm trunks brown, and add tan to the lighter trunk sections for a bit of variety.
- 2Fill the island sand with sand yellow, then color the sea and rocks as shown, leaving the boat sail white.
- 3Color the palm fronds, the round bushes and grass tufts with grass green, and use forest green for the darker bushes at the edges of the island.
- 4Color the big smoke cloud and the small bubbles light gray, and fill the two small clouds with sky blue. Keep the highlights white.
- 5Color the lava on the volcano top and down its sides orange, make the crater rim dark brown, and color the coconuts chocolate brown. Color the boat hull bright red.
- 6Optional: Add a few darker lines on the volcano and on the smoke with a slightly darker shade to give a bit of depth.
