Bear Cub Climbing Up Toward a Beehive

Coloring guide
This playful cub hugs a thick tree trunk and shimmies upward, a paw gripping each side of the bark and one foot braced against the trunk. Its head is tipped back and its mouth is open in a happy smile as it eyes a round, striped beehive hanging from a branch above. Three little bees buzz around the hive, each with a dashed line showing its flight. Leaves sprout from the branches at the top. At the bottom you'll find a few rounded bushes, grass tufts and a small grassy hill. The wide trunk and the hive leave lots of room for younger colorists. Golden yellow for the hive and bees and warm brown for the cub and bark would be a good start. Print it at home for a classroom project or a weekend craft. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the bear, its paws and feet, and the big tree trunk with warm brown, leaving the eye shines and fur highlights white.
- 2Fill the beehive with golden yellow and make its dark entrance hole dark brown.
- 3Color the bee wings with sky blue, then use bright green for the leaves at the top of the tree.
- 4Shade the bushes on the right in forest green and bright green, and color the grass at the bottom with lime green.
- 5Add coral pink inside the bear's right ear and leave the background and tree branch highlight white.
- 6Optional: Add slightly darker strokes of warm brown on the trunk and bear to give them a bark-like texture.
