This big cartoon semi truck has wide, friendly eyes and raised eyebrows, and it's heading right toward you along a road with dashed lane lines. The cab has two tall exhaust stacks, a large grille with vertical bars, round headlights, side mirrors and a row of small lights across the roof. A long box trailer on several sets of wheels follows behind. Rolling hills, bushy trees and three puffy clouds fill the background. Bold outlines and big open shapes make it a nice match for preschoolers and early elementary kids still working on staying inside the lines. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big red cab, hood, and roof using bright red, and fill the fenders and side panels too.
- 2Color the trailer box and the hills and bushes: bright blue for the trailer, forest green for the hills, and lime green and grass green for the bushes.
- 3Fill the windshield and side windows with light sky blue, leaving the two round eye whites bright white.
- 4Use light gray for the grille, bumper, and exhaust pipes, and steel gray for the lower engine parts.
- 5Finish with charcoal black for the tires and wheels, and pale yellow for the headlights, keeping the clouds and road lines white.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading along the bottom of the trailer and the red cab for depth.
