Old Pickup Truck Full of Pumpkins by a Scarecrow

Behind a wooden fence stands a smiling scarecrow in a floppy hat and patched overalls, arms stretched wide as he watches an old-fashioned pickup truck parked in front of him. The truck bed is heaped with big ribbed pumpkins, held in by a wooden side rail. Round headlights, a wide grille, curved fenders and a side mirror give you lots of chunky shapes to fill in. Rolling hills and puffy clouds sit in the background, and tufts of grass and a few maple leaves lie on the ground. Orange pumpkins with green stems, a bright red truck and golden yellow straw and hat for the scarecrow would be a fun mix. The free PDF prints at home and makes an easy screen-free activity. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the big grassy background and bushes with grass green, and the trees and hills with forest green, leaving the sky white.
- 2Fill the truck body, hood, cab and bed sides with fire red, then color the wood fence posts and rails and the bed boards with wood brown.
- 3Color the windshield and side windows light sky blue, and the pumpkins in the bed with pumpkin orange.
- 4Paint the grille, bumpers, wheels and tire areas with light gray and dark gray, leaving the headlight glass white.
- 5Color the scarecrow's overalls denim blue, its hat with straw yellow and amber gold, its face pale tan, and its shirt sleeves fire red. Add marigold yellow to the leaves on the ground.
- 6Optional: add a few darker strokes of charcoal black on the tires and under the truck to give it depth.
