Big Volleyball on the Sand with a Sandcastle

A giant volleyball takes up the middle of this beach picture, drawn with wide curved panels that small hands can fill in easily. Two wavy lines behind it make the sea, and a smiling sun with rounded rays beams from the top corner. At the right is a little sandcastle with a flag on top, an arched doorway and a crenellated tower. A ridged seashell lies in the bottom corner, and rows of tiny dots across the sand add texture. Large shapes and bold lines make this a good page for preschoolers and early elementary kids who are gaining confidence with crayons. Blue and yellow panels taking turns on the ball would look nice, with a sunny yellow sun and tan sand. This free printable is good for summer days or a beach-themed classroom. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the sea and sky areas on both sides of the ball and behind the castle, using sky blue, and leave the thin wave lines uncolored.
- 2Fill the sand at the bottom left and right, and the sandcastle walls and base, with sandy yellow.
- 3Color the big volleyball: use orange for the lower right panel, red for the upper left panel, green for the middle band, sunny yellow for the upper right panel, and sky blue for the remaining panels, leaving the two white panels blank.
- 4Add the sun face and its rays with sunny yellow, then color the castle flag with bright red.
- 5Color the three shell petals and the shell base with lavender purple, and fill the castle door with warm brown.
- 6Optional: Add a little shading with a slightly darker shade along one side of the ball and the shell petals to make them look rounder.
