This friendly horse faces forward with its head turned a little to the side, bright sparkly eyes and a gentle smile. The long wavy mane blows sideways like there's a breeze, and a full tail flows out behind. Rolling hills, a few bushy shrubs and three puffy clouds fill the background, and small grass tufts sit around the hooves. The wide shapes in the mane and tail are good for practicing steady strokes, and the plain background won't overwhelm younger kids. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the horse's face and the leg marking on the front leg with caramel brown, leaving the eye whites and the small shine in the eyes white.
- 2Fill the long flowing mane, forelock, and tail with butter yellow, using loose wavy strokes and leaving thin white lines between the strands.
- 3Color the inner ear coral pink and the hooves dark brown, then add a little cream at the lower tips of the neck mane.
- 4Use sky blue for the two clouds and leave the sky white, then fill the bushes on both sides with forest green.
- 5Color the grass hills and the grass tufts with grass green, and add light green to the distant hill behind the legs.
- 6Optional: add a few golden yellow strokes to the shady parts of the mane and tail, and to the upper leg marking, for a little depth.
