Witch's Cauldron Bubbling Over a Campfire

A big round cauldron stands on three little legs above a crackling log fire, with a long wooden spoon sticking out of the brew. Thick bubbles crowd the top of the pot, and more round bubbles in different sizes float up past some small stars in the air. Underneath, three flames rest on two chunky logs with swirly wood rings. Younger kids will manage the large, simple shapes on this free printable, and the bubbles and logs offer older kids some shading practice. A slime green or glowing purple potion would be fun, with orange and yellow flames that pop against the dark iron pot. Sparkly yellow stars finish it off. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the cauldron: fill the big pot body, rim, and both legs with charcoal gray, leaving the small highlight shines white.
- 2Fill the bubbling liquid inside the rim and all the round bubbles and blobs floating above and on the pot with leaf green.
- 3Color the stars and the flame bases golden yellow, and the middle of the fire with golden yellow as well.
- 4Paint the outer fire flames bright orange, working around the golden yellow centers.
- 5Color the firewood logs chestnut brown, then fill the round log ends pale tan for a light wood look.
- 6Finish with the wooden spoon in chestnut brown, and leave the small white shine spots on bubbles and the spoon untouched. Optional: add a little darker shading on the cauldron edges for depth.
