Twin-Tower Castle with Flags and a Big Wooden Door

On either side of a big arched wooden door stand two tall round towers with striped cone roofs, each with a little waving flag on top. Small arched windows climb up the towers, and a crenellated wall joins them above the entrance. The door has a stone-block frame, vertical planks and two round ring handles, so there are lots of little shapes to color. The castle sits on a grassy hill with tufts of grass and a round bush at each side, and a single puffy cloud floats in the empty sky. Thick lines and roomy spaces make it a good fit for preschoolers and early elementary kids who are working on pencil control. Gray and tan are nice for the stones, brown for the door, and red or blue for the striped roofs. It's a free printable that also works for quiet time at home or in class. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big areas: color the two tall castle towers and the middle wall in cream beige, leaving the small patch at the right edge of the middle wall white.
- 2Fill the cloud with pale blue, and color the two bushes on the left and right in leaf green.
- 3Color the pointed roofs of both towers and their stripes in brick red, then add the battlements with light gray at the base of each turret.
- 4Paint the two flags in royal blue and the tips of the flagpoles in golden yellow.
- 5Color the four windows in sky blue and their sills in light gray, then fill the arched door with warm brown.
- 6Finish with the light gray stones around the arch and along the sides of the door, and add the two door knobs in warm brown. Optional: add a little darker shading on one side of each tower for depth.
