Cherry Tree With an Axe Leaning Against the Trunk

One big cherry tree fills this page. Its wide, scalloped crown looks a bit like a cloud, and five pairs of round cherries dangle from curved stems beneath pointed leaves. The trunk has simple bark lines and splits into a few branches that reach out to hold the fruit. An axe leans against the trunk at the lower right, a reference to the George Washington cherry tree story many families tell around Presidents' Day. Small tufts of grass cover the ground, and a round-petaled flower sits on each side of the tree. The big shapes and bold outlines make this free printable easy for preschoolers and early elementary kids. Bright red cherries, two greens for the leaves and warm brown for the trunk and axe handle all work nicely. The flower colors are up to the kids. Kids who like Presidents' Day coloring pages usually enjoy Halloween and Gingerbread House too.
