A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big wooden stage floor and front panels in amber orange, leaving the thin floor lines light so they still show.
- 2Color the boy's graduation gown and cap in royal blue, and his pants and shoes details in navy blue.
- 3Fill the woman's jacket and skirt in lavender purple, her blouse in ivory, and the curtains at the top corners in ocean blue.
- 4Use peach skin for the faces, hands and legs, then warm brown for the boy's hair and the flower pots, leaving the eye whites and the background white.
- 5Add bright yellow to the draped cloth behind the stage, light blue or pale blue to a few crowd shirts, and golden yellow to the little girl's hair.
- 6Finish with small details: coral red for the little girl's shirt, soft pink for a crowd shirt, leaf green for another, and charcoal gray for the shoes. Optional: add a slightly darker blue edge to the gown for depth.
