Wise Owl in a Graduation Cap on a Stack of Books
Coloring guide
Perched on a neat stack of three thick books, a wide-eyed owl wears a graduation cap with a dangling tassel, its little feet gripping the top cover. It has big round eyes, a small triangle beak, feathered ear tufts and scalloped feathers across its belly, and its wings rest at its sides. A long pencil lies across the front of the stack at the bottom left, and a shiny apple with a stem and one leaf sits at the bottom right. Clean, bold outlines and large open spaces make this free printable easy for younger kids, and the feathers and book pages give older children enough detail to enjoy. Each book could be a different bright shade, with a red apple and a classic black or school-colored cap. Add this to your Graduation coloring page collection, alongside Farmer and Balloon.

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the owl's face and round belly in cream, leaving the big round eye whites and the little eye highlights white.
- 2Fill both wings, the head feathers and the cheek feathers with warm brown, leaving the small white feather highlight near the tassel side.
- 3Color the mortarboard top and its base charcoal gray, then add the golden yellow tassel with its knob at the end of the cord.
- 4Paint the stack of books: bright blue for the top book, cherry red for the middle book and leaf green for the bottom book, adding golden yellow bands on each spine.
- 5Color the pages of the books cream, the apple cherry red with a leaf green leaf and cream stem, and the beak and feet orange.
- 6Optional: Add light gray to the pencil's metal band and pale pink to its eraser, then finish with a light tan tip.
