Coconut Palm on a Tiny Hawaiian Island

Coloring guide
A lone curved palm tree rises from a tiny round island in this black-and-white outline. Six round coconuts are tucked right beneath its leafy crown, each marked with a few little dots. The trunk is split into easy bands, so kids can fill them in one at a time. Six big, jagged fronds spread in every direction, which leaves lots of room for bold color. Down at the base, grass tufts sit on a sandy mound sprinkled with tiny specks, and wavy lines of water circle the island. Crayons and markers work well on the thick, clear outlines, especially for preschoolers and early elementary kids. Light and dark brown taking turns on the trunk bands looks good, with bright greens on the fronds to make the coconuts pop. Just print it free for a quiet afternoon or a classroom activity. - lime green
- sandy yellow
- caramel tan
- chocolate brown
- forest green
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the island sand in sandy yellow, and leave the wavy water lines at the bottom white.
- 2Fill the palm fronds in lime green, but leave the top-right frond white so it looks like a highlight.
- 3Color the curved tree trunk in caramel tan, including every segment from the base up to the coconuts.
- 4Fill the coconuts in chocolate brown, and leave the small dark dots on them as they are.
- 5Color the two grass tufts on each side of the trunk in forest green.
- 6Optional: add light back-and-forth pencil strokes in each area to give a sketchy, hand-drawn texture.
